The camp experience
can be for one week or one weekend, mostly in the summer months,
and the participants may be accompanied by their family members.
Also, an alternative is for parents of a handicapped person
to be able to leave their child to freely enjoy the outdoors
and the company of other people while having complete support
and constant supervision by specially trained and qualified
professionals, which gives the family a brief rest of caretaking.
Included in the program of activities
offered are:
· Sports activities:
horseback riding, kayaking, tirolina, hiking, archery, rock
climbing, biking, etc…
· Artistic activities:
workshops, arts and crafts, games and , karoke, etc…
· Nature activities:
nature walks, ecological workshops, snowshoes, etc…
· Farm activities:
vegetable garden/greenhouse, farm animals (donkeys, cows,
horses, pigs, birds, etc), conservation workshops (bread,
chorizo, etc.)…
At the camp, the counselors and volunteers have an essential
role with the participants. With enthusiasm, joy, and dedication,
everyone makes each camp experience special… thank you
to everyone involved!!!
This summer of 2005, the first camp program occurred thanks
to the sponsor Fondo Nike.
It took place July 15-22 and involved more than 40 children
and young people as participants plus their chosen guest and
the volunteers. In total, more than 60 people came together
for the first camp. In the Centro de Naturaleza, Animacion
y Deporte located in the Valle de Bustarviejo, in the Sierra
de Guadarrama mountains, nestled between the towns
of Bustarviejo and Miraflores del la Sierra. The area is considered
as “Sierra Norte”
of Madrid.
In the same place, the second camp experience took place,
sponsored by Aldeasa, on Sept
8, 2005.
For the third camp, a weekend experience was provided thanks
to sponsor Caja Madrid Obra Social
and occurred Sept 29-Oct 3. The location was the Granja
Escuela “Puerta del Campo” in the county of San
Ildefonso (Segovia) in the northern area of the Sierra de
Guardarrama, 75 kilometers outside of Madrid. As with the
prior camp, these were also full of participants and fun for
everyone!
