Cross country skiing is an excellent aerobic exercise for
skiers that sit down as well as for those standing up. Many
handicapped cyclists practice cross country skiing during
the winter to stay in shape. Skiing cross country is one of
the most demanding cardio-vascular exercises of winter sports.
These skiers work their arm, leg, back and abdominal muscles.
Skiers that need to sit down utilize a special chair that
is supported by two downhill skis. Movement comes from poles
in each hand. For those skiers standing up, the traditional
method works without special adaptation.
