Based on horse therapy programs,
the course are directed at physically, mentally, visually
and/or hearing challenged people trying to achieve functional
and psychological rehabilitation, improve social adaptation
and basic aptitudes. The beneficial results of this program
are as much for the disabled participants as well as for their
families and social environment. Each course last for three
months consisting of one session each week for 45 minutes
For the participant, this therapy involves
training and exercise, yet the participant hardly notices
the therapeutic element and thus, allows themself to enjoy
the experience, stimulating their brain via the five senses,
increases neural connections in the different areas of the
brain, and emphasizing those areas involved in multi-task
processes.
The basis of this therapy is the movement
transmitted between the horse and the person riding who is
exposed to rhythmic and symmetrical movements, similar to
those movements of a human being while walking. The participant
needs to react and adjust to the stimulus coming from the
horse. This reaction requires senses, muscles, and strengthens
the rider´s back muscles; also requires balance, coordinates
movements and stimulation of the muscles, skin, equilibrium,
and eventually produces a sense of relaxation.
Through this activity, participants gain various
benefits such as:
Physical Benefits:
· Improve equilibrium
